Updated Background:
He and Vanessa have a happy family and want to make it bigger... until she's killed by a thug who busted into their apartment. Destroyed by grief and the deep-seated thought that it was his fault, DP murders the asshole and starts down a path of self-destruction. Literally. He tries to kill himself so he can see her again. Every time he gets close he finds himself separated from her by a barrier. She tells him he can't be with her because his heart's not in the right place. He blows his ass up, leaving Colossus to scrape him off the walls and drag him to the X-Mansion to recover. Colossus convinces him to stay and become an X-Man trainee. DP is convinced that this would be the way to get his heart in the right place.

He goes with Colossus on a mission to stop a mutant boy who's gone rogue, threatening to burn people. Through talking to the kid, Russell (AKA Firefist) he finds out the kid has been abused by the people at the home he's being kept in. Instead of just calming the kid down and letting the authorities do their jobs, he kills one of the men who was abusing him and would have killed the rest if Colossus hadn't stopped him. He declares "I fight for what's right, and sometimes you gotta fight dirty." he and the kid are sent to the Ice Box with power dampeners around their necks. Without his abilities, his cancer comes back full force. He fully expects to die, in fact, he hopes for it. Russell tries to befriend him and be the badass of the prison. He doesn't want anything to do with the kid, and tells him to stop trying to shank the biggest guy and try to make friends with them.

Then Cable breaks down the wall and tries to kill Russell. Deadpool and Cable fight and DP's collar is damaged, so his powers are reawakened. DP reawakens and fights to protect Russell. He ends up being shot out of the prison and, after another near-death experience, realizes that his heart being in the right place is about saving Russell.

So he decides to form a team. The X-Force. The only members who actually matter are Domino and Peter. They come up with a grand plan to attack the convoy transporting Russell... unfortunately they didn't plan on the high winds. Domino and Deadpool are the only ones who survive the jump. Deadpool got stuck on a billboard and had to watch them all die one by one. Even Peter. He shed a tear for Sugarbear.

Domino kicks some MAJOR ass, showing luck is a super power. Long story short, Cable shows up to kill Russell and epic fight ensues. Ends with Russell releasing the fucking Jugernaut... who tears DP in half. He tries to get Russell to go with him, but Russell is hell bent on revenge.

He then has to grow a new fucking pair of legs. Ow.

Cable shows up while everyone is making fun of his legs, asking for his help to take down the Juggernaut and kill Russell. Cable finally tells them WHY he wants to kill Russell. If Russell kills the headmaster he'll keep killing people... including his family. Deadpool convinces Cable to let him try to save Russell before Cable kills him.

He goes to the X-Mansion to try to get Colossus to come help him. He tells him that "doing the right thing is sometimes messy and fucked up and not particularly convenient." Failing to get Colossus to come out of his fucking room, Cable, Domino and Deadpool go do it on their own.

Fight at the mutant torture school ensues! Colossus shows up and princess carries DP before going to fuck up Juggernaut's shit. DP goes to talk to Russell, and stop Cable from killing him. He talks to him, tries to empathize with him and Russell literally burns him. Ultimately, he puts on a power dampening collar and jumps in Cable’s way, forcing Cable to shoot him instead. His sacrifice inspires Russell to make the right choice, not to kill the headmaster. Colossus tries to pull off the collar, but DP makes it clear he WANTS to die. He wants to see Vanessa again.

Wade dies and gets to see Vanessa again. He finally gets to hold her, and is even changed back to his old hot self. But she tells him it's not his time, that his family needs him.

Cable has to be a big damn hero. He uses the last charge of his time slider to go back to when they arrived at the school. He tucks Wade's ski-ball token where the bullet was going to hit him, so when he shoots he strikes that instead and Wade survives. Thus proving that Cable has a heart.

Happy ending time! He has Negasonic Teenage Warhead fix Cable's time slider and DP goes back in time and fixes EVERYTHING! He saves Vanessa and Peter and kills Deadpool from Wolverine Origins, fixing the timeline. He also shoots Ryan Reynolds in the head to stop him from making Green Lantern.

Updated Personality:
He's accepted the fact that he's a damned hero. He is no longer afraid of family, it's not an F word. He's grown! He wants to be a daddy and do right by Vanessa and be a fucking badass with his new X-Force family. That’s about it.

Updated Abilities:
He's had a year to practice his l33t super hero abilities and get better with using his healing powers to his advantage. Example - he uses his own broken and dislocated arm to choke Cable.

Other:
He won't be coming back with the time slider. Because.
